Historical Background
During extreme stormwater events, such as Tropical Storm Fay in 2008, a
portion of Sunflower Road between
Celia Court and Sipsey Way goes underwater. This section of Sunflower Road
becomes impassable, disrupting
access between Wakulla Spring Highway and Woodville, emergency and local
residential access are severely
restricted.
The primary objective of this project is to provide access to local residents
and emergency personnel.

Proposed Improvements
The proposed improvements consist of reconstructing 1,975 linear feet of
Sunflower Road from east of Celia Court
to Sipsey Way. The reconstruction will consist of raising the roadway above the
recorded 1997 flood elevation,
reconstruct roadways and driveways that connect to the raised portion of
Sunflower Road to provide safe access.
Construct crossdrain and Stormwater Facilities associated with the raising of
Sunflower Road.
