Currently a drainage easement exists
along the north of Lots 18 through 27 of the Edinburgh Estates Unit 6
Subdivision Plat. Within this easement a depressional area exists which
provides storage prior to being discharged across Old Bainbridge Road to
View Pointe Pond. Over time silt and grit from runoff has been deposited
in this depressional area and has reduced the storage volume available.
In addition, the combined offsite flow from the south of Old Bainbridge
Road and the adjacent overland flow overwhelm the existing roadside
conveyance system. Consequently, the flood stage within the area
encroaches into the backyard of the lots described above.
The primary objective of this project is to reduce the flood stage
impacts to the drainage easement within the project area.
On February 3, 2011, an Open House
Meeting was held for the Proposed Edinburgh Estates Drainage
Improvements. In response to citizens’ comments and concerns during the
Public Meeting, county staff and the consultant explored alternate
designs while achieving similar flood reduction for the affected area.
